Does it make much sense?
So, it is that time of year again. As I finish up the semester (high stress) I also spend my days searching for possible summer jobs (high stress also). Here is what makes me laugh: the past few times I’ve been to Red Deer all I see is “help wanted” signs, they tell me that a fast food place will pay me $10.50/hour starting, yet the jobs advertised for students are still averaging under $10/hr! So first, if everyone is so desperate for workers, why aren’t there more ads posted in the papers, job bank, etc and second, why aren’t people willing to pay educated staff a little more? I understand that the experience I get should be making up for the difference in wages but a girls gotta eat when she goes back to school. So I applied earlier this year to jobs that will give me work experience and look good on my resume, jobs that I want to do, but it doesn’t look good and I will probably end up working somewhere else, somewhere that pays more but won’t give me the work experience that I need. Oh well! That’s my latest thing!
