I’m Back

Filed under: Uncategorized — Sharyl @ 2:32 pm

I’m now at home. If you wanted to look at pictures that my crazy snap happy brother took during my vacation you can see them in Brad’s picture place

We had a pretty darn good time, well I did anyway. I learned to never follow Karin and that Brad loves it when you do something stupid in all of his pictures! Seattle was cool. Although those Americans do not use their bank cards to pay for anything, there are ATM’s sitting in every little store but it’s cash or credit card to pay! How silly is that? I think it’s pretty darn silly! Wall climbing was fun, although the pictures from that day are not even the least bit flattering, Brad got hurt a little and I was just in pain the next day. Muscles I didn’t even know I had! Shopping was great! Sushi was great. Rain was wet, all the time - well except for my last day there! I also got my new family heirlooms! Most of you know I have a stupid addiction to tacky souvenirs, well I got some Seattle Space Needle salt and pepper shakers - actually shaped like the space needle. It just doen’t get any better than that! Well maybe Eiffle Tower salt and pepper shakers but you take what you can get! I had something else to say but i forgot so I just won’t say it.

I’m all ready bitter with the fact that I’m back though. You’d think that when you book a week off of work that they wouldn’t schedule you for that whole week. Not at my job. They some how figure out the day that you will be back and book you for that day! I made the mistake of calling in to see when I work next week so I can plan my shifts for the Scott Tournament of Hearts (STOH) and found out that I have to work tonite. I had a 2 second urge to say “well I’m still out of town” but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. So that makes me just a little angry! I have one day off and then I start working STOH and then I go back to school.

What I have been up to

Filed under: Uncategorized — Sharyl @ 11:24 pm

I’m out here in Vancouver, having a good time. They have kept me very busy these past few days! I don’t think i have done this much in years. Today we went shopping in the morning, came home for 2 seconds then went wall climbing, i haven’t done that since grade nine (baby), then we went to ikea. After we got home Karin left right away for her dance class, busy girl, while Braad and I sat around watching cartoons and reality tv.

Tommorow we are getting up early to go on a little bit of a road trip, to Seattle. Should be fun!

I’m here

Filed under: Uncategorized — Sharyl @ 6:03 pm

And its me for real this time! That was my wonderful brother who wrote the last post! the same guy who told me to follow someone from my flight to the baggage claim. That didn’t work too well! The first couple I chose to follow took off like it was their last night on earth (i think the guy even left his girlfriend behind to fend for herself), so I picked up this other guy I recognized, he stopped to use the phone! I couldn’t very well sit and wait for him so I kept walking, didn’t recognize anyone else, so I kept walking then I saw Brad and Karin!

Then we wnet for sushi, then we went shopping, then we went grocery shopping, now we are DDR-ing it up!!! oh yes!!!!

Talk to ya later!!!!!!

Leavin’ on a jet plane…

Filed under: Uncategorized — Sharyl @ 11:49 am

Hi everybody!

Guess where I am! I’m on an airplane for the first time in four years! Look! I can see Derek and Shannon’s house. It’s sooooo small from up here. And there’s Derek! Derek! Put some pants on!

Oh. Now they’re serving us little bags of peanuts. Mmmm…. Peanuts. Oh, darn. Not peanuts. It’s a low-fat soy-based snack mix. Oh well… Mmmm… low-fat soy-based snack mix.

I’m sure glad that my favorite brother, Brad is going to pick me up at the airport soon and take me for sushi.

If Barbie can do it……

Filed under: Uncategorized — Sharyl @ 7:35 pm

Today I was wasting time and came across this article apparently Barbie has decided that she is just too independent to be tied down. Maybe she got sick of Ken’s fear of comitment, maybe Ken doesn’t play for the same team, whatever the case is they are finished! I laughed when I first read this, but then…..I laughed some more. Apparently all the Wedding Barbie dolls out there are just fantasy, Barbie was getting her hopes up. It just goes to show you that it can happen to the best couples, right before Valentines Day too yet!!

Somewhere in the 2 day range

Filed under: Uncategorized — Sharyl @ 3:10 pm

I have one full day and a couple partials to deal with before I head off the the big city. I’m getting a little nervous and I’m starting to think Tanya had the right idea when she said I should get one of those ‘kid flying alone’ necklaces! people would definatley be more understanding and helpful!

I just finished a midterm today! so thats the last thing i have to worry about before i go! I’ve seen the advantage to sociology - I can now make anything into a social issue. Throw in a few big words, relate it to something from a larger subject and there you go - a social issue. and everyone believes you cause you’re studying sociology! I love that part. I mean Brad could tell me something so stupid about genetics, Derek about engeneering, Pops about pork, Ma about hutterites, it doesn’t matter I would believe them! Why? cause they know what they are talking about! Now I can tell them something about sociology and they have to believe me, they may not want to cause it is me, but they have too!

2 more classes before reading week. how do they expect me to concentrate? i just can’t do it! an hour and a half of art history (review on top of that) and then 2 hours of stats! thats crazy! then i have a week off, ok so i have an essay to write, 3 midterms to study for and a presentation to start thinking about but I’m still calling it a week off! No classes, no work! What will I do with all my time?

tommorow is Friday the Thirteenth!!!

One week + 2 days

Filed under: Uncategorized — Sharyl @ 3:13 pm

A week and 2 days, then i have a whole week off! isn’t that crazy!?? Reading week already! I think it’s crazy! I still have a lot of work to be doing but I know I have enough time to do it! I should be worried about midterm exams but I’m not! All I can think about is that it’s beautiful weather and I’m going to Vancouver in a little over a week! I hate being in school when it is so nice out! all you can do is stare out th window and wish you were outside rather than sitting in a classroom listening to a lecture on Habermas or social statistics or some long dead artist!

I’ve been tanning though! yep! I am significantly more tanned! I know some of you who are related to me think that I’m stupid for tanning but let me tell you that I think it is actually good for me! Yep! In this cold winter I am getting all my essential vitamins that I don’t get from the sun because it is hidden for like 10 months out of the year! And when summer comes around I don’t burn (as bad), I admit I still burn a little bit but that is because I like to tan! so all in all tanning is good for me!

Pop’s is back from Germany. Yep everyone is back on Canadian soil! I’m actually surprised dad made it back from all his stories, i’m getting him a chain and padlock for his passport and we’re gonna tie it around his neck so he can’t remove it the entire time he is away, if someone wants to see his passport they can just open it up and look while its still attached to him! That would be fun!

Derek and Shannon are comming up this weekend. So all weekend I’ll get to hear stories about Australia and Europe while I think about my adventerous trip to Vancouver! I think I take too many risks!!!
