The World According to Axel / The Route Of All Evil

Filed under: Friends, Life, Road Trips — Sharyl @ 8:29 pm

Ok…. so if you have been keeping up with the countdowns like I have then you know that I had like the crappiest week of school but seriously the best weekend in my short history. Well I mean it rocked at least! We went to the Guns n Roses concert on Thursday and then on Saturday the Route of All Evil tour with Motley Cure and AEROSMITH!!!! Whoo!

So Axel Rose has a psychic and apparently likes to meditate before the show and knows that the vibe is better for the show later in the night….at least this is what I’ve heard from my sources. But in Axel’s world people don’t have to work on a Friday, or in my case drive an hour and a half after the concert, so he didn’t start playing until 11:55….pm…. I’m not really complaining cause well he gets points for showing up and seriously he played for 2 and a half hours (that was awesome) but it was 2:30 in the morning! I don’t see how the vibe was better….. half the people were gone before the show was half over, and those of us who were left were sitting, enjoying the music, but we weren’t too excited or mobile by that time. Good concert, too late. And I know, my very caring oldest brother offered me and my friends a bed/couch/piece of floor but we were all wide awake and all I could think about was my own bed and so we made the drive and ended up in our beds at 5:30…..am.

And then there was Aerosmith! OMG!!! That was awesome! We got there and Motley Crue was already on stage so we got to our seats and rocked out to their show. Then the intermission: we got some drinks and made some friends and I know that I could barely contain myself - I was that excited. and then they started playing! We didn’t sit down once during their entire show! It was that good (and it was still the same day so we weren’t really tired) I called a lot of people and left messages of the concert on their voicemail, I recorded some bits on my phone (you can hear us singing in most of them but they are still great!), and Jodi took some picture (maybe after my exam I’ll finally get around to posting some pictures from the last few months). We had a pretty good time. Tammy’s favorite quote was from someone who won’t be named: “I love 2 bands… Aerosmith and Backstreet Boys!” I personally think that the person who said that showed that they are a well rounded individual who is tolerant of different things and I also think she is pretty! Anyway, after the show, we got ourselves back to the hotel (we did it with class at the Westin) and hung out for a bit before brushing our teeth in the heavenly sink, watching a little heavenly tv, and going to sleep in our heavenly beds! Ahhh…… It was pretty fabulous. All in all: Aerosmith rocks!!!!!

And now back to reality, one more exam and I’m done.

Summer Girls

Filed under: Photos, Friends, Life, Road Trips — Sharyl @ 12:50 pm

So, I thought I should probably write and keep everyone up to date on my summer. It’s actually been pretty busy, well compared to my other summers when I did nothing but work. I’m still working a lot but I’ve managed to fit in some extra curriculars! So thats always good. I’ll start at the begining! And in a bit there will be pictures from pretty much everything.

First I moved back to Red Deer and that night was Janapolooza (Jana’s going away party *sniff*sniff*), we had fun but it was bitter sweet cause she had to move away forever. But good news: she got accepted to UofL and so she has to drive past us all the time and hopefully we will still see her sometimes — Jana we do live closer than your family so you should just spend all holidays with us!!! And Jana’s coming down for Jodi’s birthday Luau next weekend!!! YAY!!!!! Then nothing really exciting happened. I got a full time job, I continued working the same old part time job and I still work 6 days a week, sometimes more ( welcome to my pity party).

Then in June we had the busiest weekend ever! We did the Cancer Relay for Life on the Friday night (Thank you again to everyone who sponsored us!!!!) and slept on Saturday. On Sunday we got up and met up with a bunch of other people and started driving west! We camped at Big Horn Dam that night and got up at like 5:00am monday morning and drove to Lake Louise (or as the french call it: Lac Louise) where we got picked up on a bus and driven over the BC boarder where they suited us up and put us in rafts and sent us (with guides) down the Kicking Horse River (and I now know how it got it’s name). Thats right — I went white water rafting!!! it was freakin awesome!!!! I want to do it again and again and again!!!! Anytime anyone wants to go I know at least 3 people that will go with you!!!! After a long day on the river they fed us some chicken and drove us back to Alberta. We started the long drive back to Nordegg area and then Red Deer, actually we liked it so much that we went back to BC first for a bit before we realized that we wanted to go East (don’t tell anyone though — it’s a car secret).

Then it was back to work and it’s been pretty tame. We Went to Ponoka Stampede last weekend —- I don’t think I have to explain that cause everyone who has ever been knows what a good time it is. We have been spending a lot of time in our bathing suits, just maxin and relaxin and it has been a pretty darn good time. So good actually that I never seem to have time to do laundry — so that will have to be tonight — while i upload pictures that is!

Upcoming: Jodi’s birthday Luau!!!
AND the most important event of the summer —– little baby Lulu!!! I can’t wait!!!

Well la de da

Filed under: Photos, Friends, School, Life, Countdowns! — Sharyl @ 7:05 pm

ok — so in true end of the semester form: 1 down, 4 to go!

I finished my first final on Thursday night and now I’m working on balancing studying for my second final (this Tuesday) and writing a term paper (technically due this wednesday)! Ain’t life grand! That is about it! I’m so looking forward to that last week of classes and the moving and the finals……mainly because that all means that I will be that much closer to the end! and well its summer and summer = beach = tan = fun in the sun! I could go on but I won’t!

Last weekend I went to RD to have a birthday extravaganza for Tammy — and what an extravaganza it was! I had fun, we all had fun — I think the whole town knows just how much fun Tammy had! Good times 3 years running! (sidenote: my batteries in my camera died on the ride down cause Tanya and I were being cool so I’m gonna need pictures from everyone there who had a camera so I can post them here — I want ALL the pictures and you have my word that I will only post the pretty and appropriate ones!)

That’s really about all I’ve been up to. I eat and sleep school and Tammy’s birthday! oh and still trying to look for a summer job (so if you are reading this and want to hire a very bright sociology student for the summer give me a call!!!! HAHAHA!).

Another semester on the go

Filed under: Friends, School, Life, Fish, The Corsica / The Versa — Sharyl @ 2:05 pm

I know I’m a horrible person for not writing anything here since before Christmas, but I have been a very busy girl.

Christmas was great! Family time was great! Work was ok. And that is basically what I did for my break. That and dragging my friends out and about all the time and probably getting on their nerves cause I wanted to hang out all the time. The I drove back up to E-town. The Corsica is back resting and I’ll probably leave it alone for a while now. Jana Too made it again. Although she is a little more aggressive than she was before the Red Deer trip. I think it has something to do with Mom’s fish and all the socializing that went on!

Then I started the winter 2006 semester with a bang! See, before Christmas we all thought it would be fun to participate in AntiFreeze, a week long competition at the UofA. And it was so much fun! however, I am still tired! We were doing something EVERY night and were supposed to be doing something every day (but we skipped a bit — for academic reasons). But that’s all said and done. Good times! I have my books and my classes are in full swing now so….. I’m back writing here so I don’t have to read.

I’m thinking I might have to post some pictures. I’ll have to look through and find the most appropriate ones! (yes — go take a look!)

Almost X-mas

Filed under: Friends, School, Life, Fish, Road Trips — Sharyl @ 11:23 am

So I made it….. Jana Too even made it! I finished all my exams for another semester and came back to Red Deer so people could give me money (that I’m working too hard for) and I could spend it on presents for everyone. (Jana Too just came along for the ride and is getting spoiled by mom). Laundry done (for this round) and Im half done my shopping!

And a scarier note: I had a little car trouble…. not my car my moms (which is worse) and it might surprise most people who know my track record to know that this time it wasn’t a stationary object causing me all the problems (2 parked cars and a garage). If you want to know the details (more creatively than I could ever tell them) check out Brads web site. As for me….. I dropped about 10 glasses last night and spilled a lot…… in other words I’m still shaking.

Anyway — I’m gonna go prepare myself for the malls!

ok, so here is the update (and Tanya)

Filed under: Friends, School, Life — Sharyl @ 6:59 pm

What have I been up to this wonderful hot yet rainy summer? Not a whole lot!! I got a summer job at Vellner Leisure Products in Red Deer, I work 7 days a week, I still work about 1 night a week at the westerner and I work opposite hours of almost everyone I know!!! Other than that I can’t complain.

I made a HUGE mistake in one of my last enteries. I was talking about my frineds and I never even mentioned Tanya — she felt a little left out. she’s just such a pemanent fixture in my life that I sometimes forget to mention that she is still around just because I assume everyone will just assume that she is there (if that made sense to anyone else but me — great!). Tanya got all of us involved in the cancer relay for life, she recruited all of us and was not only our team captain but our cheerleader (hahaha). Seriously it was a good time (click my cow and check out the pictures!!) Tanya and I also spent an afternoon floating around Pine Lake (until we were smart enough to tie ourselves to something). It works out well, cause sometimes she actually works the same hours as me and we can hang out during the day (we don’t do it as often as we probably could). Tanya also just got accepted to the good old University of Alberta’s criminology program (like I told her she would) so she will be moving up there with me this fall and I will have to be her tourguide (weird!!!) I can not wait cause we are going to have so much fun this year at school (as well as learn alot and study alot and pass all of our classes). What else about Tanya??? I told her I would write all about her because I left her out last time but I don’t want o get too personal. Lets just leave it at: shes a great friend who will be going to UofA this fall - cause she’s so smart!!!

Speaking of great friends, Tammy actually came back from Europe — she loved it!!! Jodi is getting old (tommorow is her birthday but there won’t be a party for another week cause we all have to work this weekend — but there will be pictures!!!). Kathy is still gramma and I think thats all I really need to say about that. Jenn and I are motivating each other to go to the gym all the time now, even if we do go out for lunch after sometimes (it’s always healthy food!!). Jana still hasn’t figured out that we are a much better time here than anyone up north - big ditcher!!!! And I know that I have forgotten someone — but lets be honest — maybe you should talk to me more often!!!! HAHAHA!!!

It’s fair time again, so I will be taking off time from Vellner and working over there all day everyday (if you’re there look for me cause I promise I will be there). After that we will all need a drink so we will have a belated birthday party for Jodi. And by that time there will only be a month left before school starts again — time flies when your working!!! We’ll have to get another weekend like Ponoka in there before the summer is over!!!

not as sick but maybe cause school is almost over

Filed under: Photos, Friends, Life — Sharyl @ 6:59 pm

I’m feeling a lot better now!! I can think clearly and best of all I can talk clearly!!! It’s great!!!

So last week was Tammy’s birthday right? Well I finally posted the pictures from that weekend!!! (so click my cow!!!)

I’m going into my last week of classes for this semester and this year — it’s wierd to think that I have been here for a whole school year already and that it’s almost over — although I’m more than ready for it to be over! So, I’ve given my notice and I will be moving out by the end of the month - somethime after my exams are over! I start writting on this Thursday and the last one is a take-home (hating that) that is due on the 27th — I’m hoping to have it done before that so I can have more that 3 days to do everything. But yeah… whatever happens happens!!! I’ve been studying all day but it still feels like I have so much to do in such a short amount of time. Everyone does it though — people have been doing it for years — so I can to (apparently)!!!

Thats it, Thats all, Study time!! — I’m so excited (not really)

Blah

Filed under: Friends, School, Life — Sharyl @ 6:59 pm

I’m sick, I felt it comming on a little bit all weekend but when I woke up this morning I was sick! I just woke up from a nap but I’m still sick. I hate being sick — it’s a head cold with a bit of a cough and all I wanna do is lay in bed and sleep untill it goes away but I have school and it is the last 2 weeks of classes and that generally is not the best time to not go to class. So instead I will go to bed early and sleep in and just not do my hair!!

On another happier note — it is Tammy’s birthday today!!! Yep! The two of us can finally go to Las Vegas!!! not that we have a big trip planned — but if we wanted to we could!!!

I swear there was something else I was gonna write about but now I can’t remember — I’ll blame the cold!
