The update

Filed under: Life, Fish, The Corsica / The Versa, Road Trips, Family — Sharyl @ 6:43 pm

So… it has been a long time since i have taken the time to write anything here. So what’s new? Hows about the point form version?

- We went to Vegas, it was awesome… even the part when I hit Carl the Coyote with all four tires.
- In related news my car got it’s first repair — a brand new front bumper!

- When we got back I started my new job as an Employment Consultant for people with developmental disabilities. I was right - it is challenging but it can also be the best job because you are helping people to reach their goals and you get to watch them succeed. But most of the time I am frustrated and tired. You never know what your day will bring you when you go to work; you could have one client to see the whole day… and then your phone rings and all hell breaks loose! and then you end up staying at work until 6:00 or talking on the phone all day or driving all over the country side. Or it could just be a quiet day of paperwork - you never know. I’ve been there 6 months now and I work with the best group of girls! It helps you get through the day when you have a good team to laugh it all off with.
- Side note: Still working at the westerner.

- Brad and Karin finally had Claire. She is cuter than anyone else’s niece — her and Julia are tied but we all know how cute Julia. They are 2 friggin cute kids. I’m not biased. Julia is growing up too fast. I try to see them both as much as my jobs allow.

- Thanksgiving, Christmas and all those other fabulous holidays

- Somewhere in all this the Relay For Life 2008 committee formed and took over my life. Tammy and I are doing the Media/Promotions again and were also nominated to head up the Team Recruitment & Retention sub-committee. I’m not sure if this was a good idea. We are responsible for promoting and getting teams — I hope we do alright because otherwise Relay this year might be smaller than expected.
- always keep in mind my link on the right where you can make a donation. I’d appreciate it alot because it’s basically a part time job this year and I want lots of donations to show for it! Besides the fact that it’s a great event for a a great organization! There - thats my plug

- Jana Too is still alive and swimmin’! I know you were all wondering about her. I’ve had her for like 2 years now. Does anyone know how long those fish are supposed to live? She’s a trooper, she’s been through a lot!

- On January 28th (when winter finally came and it was -40 out) Tammy and I hoped on our plane to Varadero, Cuba. We stayed for 2 weeks this year and I seriously recommend it to anyone. It is a gorgeous country with so much history. We had a great time and just when it started to get cloudy there we got on a plane and came back to Canada where our 2 weeks of brutally cold winter was over. I think next year I want to miss winter again — it was awesome.

Since I got back I’ve just been hanging out, working, doing laundry and not much else. My life is a bit on the boring side. Yeah there’s the roadtrips and the vacations and the not really knowing what my day will look like every morning but take all that away and I’m kinda bored.

I’m going to post pictures from Cuba so check it out! And don’t forget to pledge me!!!

I’ve been busy

Filed under: Photos, Life, Road Trips — Sharyl @ 1:37 pm

I’ve got the pictures to prove that I’ve been busy! As a matter of fact I just posted them all. It took me some time too so you better look at them many time.

We went to the Dominican Republic for a week and loved every minute of it! It was great and now I want to be back there! Especially since we landed in Calgary in the middle of a snowstorm. It was a nice break from winter. So check out the pics from that!

Also new pics in Julia’s album & I finally posted the pictures from the Aerosmith concert!

The World According to Axel / The Route Of All Evil

Filed under: Friends, Life, Road Trips — Sharyl @ 8:29 pm

Ok…. so if you have been keeping up with the countdowns like I have then you know that I had like the crappiest week of school but seriously the best weekend in my short history. Well I mean it rocked at least! We went to the Guns n Roses concert on Thursday and then on Saturday the Route of All Evil tour with Motley Cure and AEROSMITH!!!! Whoo!

So Axel Rose has a psychic and apparently likes to meditate before the show and knows that the vibe is better for the show later in the night….at least this is what I’ve heard from my sources. But in Axel’s world people don’t have to work on a Friday, or in my case drive an hour and a half after the concert, so he didn’t start playing until 11:55….pm…. I’m not really complaining cause well he gets points for showing up and seriously he played for 2 and a half hours (that was awesome) but it was 2:30 in the morning! I don’t see how the vibe was better….. half the people were gone before the show was half over, and those of us who were left were sitting, enjoying the music, but we weren’t too excited or mobile by that time. Good concert, too late. And I know, my very caring oldest brother offered me and my friends a bed/couch/piece of floor but we were all wide awake and all I could think about was my own bed and so we made the drive and ended up in our beds at 5:30…..am.

And then there was Aerosmith! OMG!!! That was awesome! We got there and Motley Crue was already on stage so we got to our seats and rocked out to their show. Then the intermission: we got some drinks and made some friends and I know that I could barely contain myself - I was that excited. and then they started playing! We didn’t sit down once during their entire show! It was that good (and it was still the same day so we weren’t really tired) I called a lot of people and left messages of the concert on their voicemail, I recorded some bits on my phone (you can hear us singing in most of them but they are still great!), and Jodi took some picture (maybe after my exam I’ll finally get around to posting some pictures from the last few months). We had a pretty good time. Tammy’s favorite quote was from someone who won’t be named: “I love 2 bands… Aerosmith and Backstreet Boys!” I personally think that the person who said that showed that they are a well rounded individual who is tolerant of different things and I also think she is pretty! Anyway, after the show, we got ourselves back to the hotel (we did it with class at the Westin) and hung out for a bit before brushing our teeth in the heavenly sink, watching a little heavenly tv, and going to sleep in our heavenly beds! Ahhh…… It was pretty fabulous. All in all: Aerosmith rocks!!!!!

And now back to reality, one more exam and I’m done.

It’s countown time

Filed under: School, Life, Road Trips, Countdowns! — Sharyl @ 8:43 pm

35 / 15

That’s the countdown. 35 days and I am officially done my University education, that breaks down to 15 days spent the university (classes and exams). Isn’t that crazy? I think it’s crazy. I think that it’s making me cazy! It’s weird - ya know? I’m findng it hard to deal with, hard to accept… I’m going to be done this stage of my life in 35 days. I know that so many people have done it an I know that everyone I’ve talked to has said that it is a weird feeling but I guess I didn’t believe it until now. Oh well, nothing I can do but get through it right? Right!

So I’m still the crazy girl commuting to school and today was intersting. I woke up and heard that there was an accident on the good old QE2 — I guess it was pretty major, traffic backed up, detoured to 2A and all that jazz. Everyone and their dog called me to tell me about it, so I left early, gave myself a little extra time. Turns out I did not need to do that. By the time I got to that point on the QE2 they were still cleaning up and I had to slow down to a crawl but not due to traffic, just because there were ‘men at work’ and I was being safe. Turns out a semi carrying those big cement square things flipped over or something (the radio had me believing that it was wet cement all over the road — it wasn'’t). Long story short, it was the best drive on the highway I’ve had all year! Everyone else decided to detour or wait or somehing so it was just me and a few of my fellow commuters, it was amazing! I have never been on that road with so few people. It was nothing short of fabulous. ….and that’s my story……

I also just wrote midterm in my economics class. Honestly I’m not sure how i went. You know how it goes: you think you did good and you fail, you think you failed and you did better than you ever expected. But I walked out of there and just didn’t know. I’m not sure how I feel about that. I guess I can only wait for the marks to be posted. Right now I am sittng in my favorite place on campus. It sounds stupid but it’s the quiet room on the second floor of Rutherford South — that’s right … the library. Obviously I am not doing any actual work right now but that is only because I can’t think about anything right now. I do have an assignment to do but I have all day tomorow to do that and I’m confient that after a good nights sleep it will work out better. HAHAHAHA — and now I’m blabbering on trying to convince myself that i is okay to procrstinate! That is so funny (well it is to me tight now). Ok — time to do some work I guess.

Summer Girls

Filed under: Photos, Friends, Life, Road Trips — Sharyl @ 12:50 pm

So, I thought I should probably write and keep everyone up to date on my summer. It’s actually been pretty busy, well compared to my other summers when I did nothing but work. I’m still working a lot but I’ve managed to fit in some extra curriculars! So thats always good. I’ll start at the begining! And in a bit there will be pictures from pretty much everything.

First I moved back to Red Deer and that night was Janapolooza (Jana’s going away party *sniff*sniff*), we had fun but it was bitter sweet cause she had to move away forever. But good news: she got accepted to UofL and so she has to drive past us all the time and hopefully we will still see her sometimes — Jana we do live closer than your family so you should just spend all holidays with us!!! And Jana’s coming down for Jodi’s birthday Luau next weekend!!! YAY!!!!! Then nothing really exciting happened. I got a full time job, I continued working the same old part time job and I still work 6 days a week, sometimes more ( welcome to my pity party).

Then in June we had the busiest weekend ever! We did the Cancer Relay for Life on the Friday night (Thank you again to everyone who sponsored us!!!!) and slept on Saturday. On Sunday we got up and met up with a bunch of other people and started driving west! We camped at Big Horn Dam that night and got up at like 5:00am monday morning and drove to Lake Louise (or as the french call it: Lac Louise) where we got picked up on a bus and driven over the BC boarder where they suited us up and put us in rafts and sent us (with guides) down the Kicking Horse River (and I now know how it got it’s name). Thats right — I went white water rafting!!! it was freakin awesome!!!! I want to do it again and again and again!!!! Anytime anyone wants to go I know at least 3 people that will go with you!!!! After a long day on the river they fed us some chicken and drove us back to Alberta. We started the long drive back to Nordegg area and then Red Deer, actually we liked it so much that we went back to BC first for a bit before we realized that we wanted to go East (don’t tell anyone though — it’s a car secret).

Then it was back to work and it’s been pretty tame. We Went to Ponoka Stampede last weekend —- I don’t think I have to explain that cause everyone who has ever been knows what a good time it is. We have been spending a lot of time in our bathing suits, just maxin and relaxin and it has been a pretty darn good time. So good actually that I never seem to have time to do laundry — so that will have to be tonight — while i upload pictures that is!

Upcoming: Jodi’s birthday Luau!!!
AND the most important event of the summer —– little baby Lulu!!! I can’t wait!!!

Almost X-mas

Filed under: Friends, School, Life, Fish, Road Trips — Sharyl @ 11:23 am

So I made it….. Jana Too even made it! I finished all my exams for another semester and came back to Red Deer so people could give me money (that I’m working too hard for) and I could spend it on presents for everyone. (Jana Too just came along for the ride and is getting spoiled by mom). Laundry done (for this round) and Im half done my shopping!

And a scarier note: I had a little car trouble…. not my car my moms (which is worse) and it might surprise most people who know my track record to know that this time it wasn’t a stationary object causing me all the problems (2 parked cars and a garage). If you want to know the details (more creatively than I could ever tell them) check out Brads web site. As for me….. I dropped about 10 glasses last night and spilled a lot…… in other words I’m still shaking.

Anyway — I’m gonna go prepare myself for the malls!

Life is good

Filed under: Fish, Road Trips — Sharyl @ 6:59 pm

I’m all excited and giddy today. It actually started last night somewhere in between 6:30 and 7:00, cause thats when we got my internet all working and such. You see I was using the UofA free dial-up but then they said no and took it away so when I returned from Red Deer after reading week I had no internet. I told Brad and Karin that they had to help me get new internet or I would be at their place everynight so I could check my email, they haelped me that day. But Telus being Telus, I wouldn’t get it for 5 days, then I had complications due to that fact that I didn’t have the programs or CD installed…. I’ll be honest - it was bad. And now I have internet and I can email and do research and write here and my life can get back to normal. I never realized how much I use it until this last week when all I wanted to do everynight when I got home was check my email or do this or that — it was horrible — I ended up playing a lot os solitaire! But I’m good now.

I went to Red Deer for reading week and relaxed, read and what not. Tanya and I cane back up to Edmonton for some UofA action and a little shopping. It was fun, a nice little road trip. It was different to have someone in the car during the drive. We took some pictures also because then she can have her own album so right after I finish writting this I am posting those pictures.

I got a new fish last Saturday, Jana too. Ma & pop were up to see their play and Brad and I went to the mall for a bit with them to pick up a new fish for this girl. The empty tank was a little depressing but now I’m paranoid cause this is about the time Jana I left me. And Janna too has been doing the whole I don’t wanna eat thing so I’m a little concerned that I might not be meant to have a fish. But he looks good right now so I’m gonna post some pictures there too!

Anyway I should actually use the internet for school now — boring I know but thats the way it’s gotta be right now…… right after i put up some pictures! So CLICK MY COW!!!!!!!!!!

one week…. and then some

Filed under: School, Road Trips — Sharyl @ 10:26 am

So, as of today I only have one week of classes left…8 actual classes, and 2 finals in that time, and then 2 more finals after that! The end so close….I can taste it!! The girls at RDC only have 3 days left and I’m a little jelous but there’s nothing I can do about that. It’s wierd to think that another semester is almost over, it seems like I’ll never have my degree, but at the same time it is going so fast that it’s hard to believe that I’m already half done.

Also I kept meaning to write ‘Happy Birthday Brad’ and I know its a week later but I can still say it. We have a great birthday super at my Grandma’s house and he had a pretty good birthday if you ask me (Disneyland and a house) so I feel less bad about not saying anything here… I mean he did get me this page for my birthday so it’s the least I can do.

What else…. I have a very boring life! all I’ve been doing lately is reading and going to class, sometimes going to Red Deer to work at some christmas parties and driving. I stayed here this weekend and hung out with Brad and Karin. My parents came up to take Brad out for his birthday and forgot about me, never called me, I had to call Brad to even find out that they were here, I guess we all know who the favorite is now! eh?!?!? I think they were trying to hide it from me because they don’t really care if they see me or not, they said that they thought I was busy but I never told them that I had plans so I’m not sure what would have gave them that idea.

But anyway, I should use this computer to do some actual work considering that’s why I came to the University a bit early, besides I’m out of things to say! Oh wait, what does everyone want for christmas? If you tell me you are more likely to get it, if not from me form someone else…I’ll pass on the information!

Life (Part 32)

Filed under: Life, Road Trips — Sharyl @ 6:59 pm

I got new pants! that’s really about it, despite what Tammy has to say! The pants are black capri’s from costco, cheap and cute. I like them and that is all that matters. I’ve been working a lot more at Marks which is good, but still no luck with the full time job search.

I think we are getting more serious about my Vegas trip. I really want to go to Vegas for my birthday theis year. If I get to go I’m not sleeping the entire time, even if I have to go to some wedding chapel and watch people get married all night — I am not sleeping!

Ok this entry was short but sweet I guess. well…..short at least!
