The update

Filed under: Life, Fish, The Corsica / The Versa, Road Trips, Family — Sharyl @ 6:43 pm

So… it has been a long time since i have taken the time to write anything here. So what’s new? Hows about the point form version?

- We went to Vegas, it was awesome… even the part when I hit Carl the Coyote with all four tires.
- In related news my car got it’s first repair — a brand new front bumper!

- When we got back I started my new job as an Employment Consultant for people with developmental disabilities. I was right - it is challenging but it can also be the best job because you are helping people to reach their goals and you get to watch them succeed. But most of the time I am frustrated and tired. You never know what your day will bring you when you go to work; you could have one client to see the whole day… and then your phone rings and all hell breaks loose! and then you end up staying at work until 6:00 or talking on the phone all day or driving all over the country side. Or it could just be a quiet day of paperwork - you never know. I’ve been there 6 months now and I work with the best group of girls! It helps you get through the day when you have a good team to laugh it all off with.
- Side note: Still working at the westerner.

- Brad and Karin finally had Claire. She is cuter than anyone else’s niece — her and Julia are tied but we all know how cute Julia. They are 2 friggin cute kids. I’m not biased. Julia is growing up too fast. I try to see them both as much as my jobs allow.

- Thanksgiving, Christmas and all those other fabulous holidays

- Somewhere in all this the Relay For Life 2008 committee formed and took over my life. Tammy and I are doing the Media/Promotions again and were also nominated to head up the Team Recruitment & Retention sub-committee. I’m not sure if this was a good idea. We are responsible for promoting and getting teams — I hope we do alright because otherwise Relay this year might be smaller than expected.
- always keep in mind my link on the right where you can make a donation. I’d appreciate it alot because it’s basically a part time job this year and I want lots of donations to show for it! Besides the fact that it’s a great event for a a great organization! There - thats my plug

- Jana Too is still alive and swimmin’! I know you were all wondering about her. I’ve had her for like 2 years now. Does anyone know how long those fish are supposed to live? She’s a trooper, she’s been through a lot!

- On January 28th (when winter finally came and it was -40 out) Tammy and I hoped on our plane to Varadero, Cuba. We stayed for 2 weeks this year and I seriously recommend it to anyone. It is a gorgeous country with so much history. We had a great time and just when it started to get cloudy there we got on a plane and came back to Canada where our 2 weeks of brutally cold winter was over. I think next year I want to miss winter again — it was awesome.

Since I got back I’ve just been hanging out, working, doing laundry and not much else. My life is a bit on the boring side. Yeah there’s the roadtrips and the vacations and the not really knowing what my day will look like every morning but take all that away and I’m kinda bored.

I’m going to post pictures from Cuba so check it out! And don’t forget to pledge me!!!

The last thing….

Filed under: The Corsica / The Versa — Sharyl @ 8:34 pm

… you will ever hear about the corsica, well excluding sentimental comments about my beautiful paint-proof first car. We just sold it. Dad and mom took a time out from playing Wii to help me make the transaction. Actually Ma & Pop have been very useful and nice in helping me with the car switch here — i really appreciate it. I feel all weird… back to just the one car now.

Update on the Versa

Filed under: The Corsica / The Versa — Sharyl @ 12:35 am

I passed 1000 kms on the new car today on the way back from Edmonton. It was all sentimental because it was around the same area that the corsica hit 200 000kms. Oh the memories on the QE2. Other than that the car is awesome and it’s treating me very well. Future road trips are going to be awesome.

PS pledge me for the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. Did I mention that Tammy and I are on the committee?!

My new lil car

Filed under: The Corsica / The Versa — Sharyl @ 10:08 pm

Thats right! I dropped off the face of the planet but I am back and I actually have something to write about. I bought a new car! Whoo! When you think you just saw me drive past in a Grey 07 Nissan Versa you did! It’s cute and I like it. Better yet: it’s all mine! Yes I will be paying for it for the next 4 years but seriously I don’t care because it is my new car! I’m a little overly focused on it right now but that will wear off. Now I am selling the corsica, which is sad but I’m dealing with it. Maybe I’ll take some final pictures of the corsica and some first pictures of the versa so everyone can see just how big of a change this is for me! hmmmm….

PS: did you pledge me yet? Because there is a cancer Relay for life link right over there —> just so you can quickly pledge me. I’m not asking for $1,000,000, every penny counts!

oh the corsica….. and Halloween

Filed under: Life, The Corsica / The Versa — Sharyl @ 11:00 am

So remember that clicking noise my car made? I think it’s gone. In a good way. I took my car for an oil change yesterday and like usualy they checked everything out for me and found something wrong with my block heater (some seal broken or something), anyway they fixed it and now there’s no clicking! Awesome…. I think!

So today is the Saturday before Halloween! That means that after a do some homework and put in a couple hours of work my friends and I are dressing up and going out to party! This year we are going as the high school seniors from ” Dazed and Confused”! You know, the movie with no plot that is still fabulous! It should be fun! Really easy costumes too! It should be fun. Plus its daylight savings time so don’t forget to set your clocks back at 2:00am so I can have an extra hour of fun tonight!

OK, so enough wasting time here because I have an assignment to get done.

Keeping up my end of the deal

Filed under: School, Life, The Corsica / The Versa — Sharyl @ 1:08 pm

Ok, so I said I would update more often and then I fell off the face of the planet! HAHAHA — isn’t that awesome! Anyway I’m pretty sure I have a list of very valid excuses but I won’t get into that! What’s been happening? Hmmmmm………

Well work —- I have been working alot
…. and school — i have been getting busier with school — papers, midterms, readings, presentations
…. the social life — hahahaha — thats funny hey — i have time for it but it hasn’t been too exciting. Lets see: FCA, Kathy’s birthday, Hall-giving…….. I really wish there was more!! I’m just waiting for November long weekend!

But with Jana coming back to Red Deer this weekend and CFR coming up I should be in for some good times! They haven’t failed me yet!!!!

The corsica is getting up there in years too — I haven’t wrote about it for a while. We are pretty much at half blue paint, half grey primer — I have to get new registration this month, what do I put under colour? It hasn’t let me down though, I mean besides the occasional time that I take it to get a check up and someone tells me that I’m lucky to be alive — hahahaha — it still hasn’t killed me. It’s got a clicking noise now. But as longs as it remains just clicking along I’m fine — I figure if the clicking stops thats when I have a real problem!

So…. still want me to update this more often? Cause I have the most boring life ever!

PS — it must be getting close to christmas cause the library smells like oranges!

Another semester on the go

Filed under: Friends, School, Life, Fish, The Corsica / The Versa — Sharyl @ 2:05 pm

I know I’m a horrible person for not writing anything here since before Christmas, but I have been a very busy girl.

Christmas was great! Family time was great! Work was ok. And that is basically what I did for my break. That and dragging my friends out and about all the time and probably getting on their nerves cause I wanted to hang out all the time. The I drove back up to E-town. The Corsica is back resting and I’ll probably leave it alone for a while now. Jana Too made it again. Although she is a little more aggressive than she was before the Red Deer trip. I think it has something to do with Mom’s fish and all the socializing that went on!

Then I started the winter 2006 semester with a bang! See, before Christmas we all thought it would be fun to participate in AntiFreeze, a week long competition at the UofA. And it was so much fun! however, I am still tired! We were doing something EVERY night and were supposed to be doing something every day (but we skipped a bit — for academic reasons). But that’s all said and done. Good times! I have my books and my classes are in full swing now so….. I’m back writing here so I don’t have to read.

I’m thinking I might have to post some pictures. I’ll have to look through and find the most appropriate ones! (yes — go take a look!)

Two things in one day

Filed under: The Corsica / The Versa — Sharyl @ 6:59 pm

So as I was driving back to Edmonton today, about 30 km from Leduc (at the overpass for ‘Correction Line Road’ to be exact) The Corsica made it to 200 000 km!!! yup!! I would have taken a picture but my camera has no film and I didn’t have it with me — but I was very excited anyway!!! I know that 200 000 is nothing in comparison to some peoples cars (like Kathy’s) but it is still a pretty big deal for The Corsica. Maybe I’ll do something special for it this week, like finally clean out the trunk or buy it a new air freshner — something special!!

AND…. I just finished my very first U of A final exam! it was for my film studies class and I think I did pretty good.

Thats it…. 2 events that I think are worth writing about!!!
